Surrounding Islands
Kalymnos is situated south of Leros. Kalymnos is starkly beautiful – mountains with terraced hillsides, tree-lines roads with breaktaking costal views. On the west coast of the island we find the village Myrites and Massouri, Ten minutes’ sail from Myrties we find the idyllic small island of Telendos. The capital town of Pothia to the south has a busy port, along its streets you’ll find shops, cafes and of course the sponge factory.
Sponge fishing has been carried out in Greece since time immemorial, and for the last 50 years this island has been the only place in Greece to maintain a fleet of sponge-diving boats.
